چکیده مقاله:
Patients receiving chemotherapy experience poor sleep quality. Access to technology has provided opportunities to use virtual teaching methods to train cancer patients which seems to be flexible and easy to apply. This study aimed to investigate The Effect of Remote Education Based on Orem's self-care model on the quality of sleep of patients undergoing chemotherapy. Methods: The study was conducted on ۶۶ patients with cancer, intervention (n=۳۳) and control (n=۳۳) groups. The intervention group received educational recommendations in the framework of Orem's self-care model in the field of improving sleep for two months through virtual social networks. The participants completed the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index before, one and two months after the start of the intervention. Results: The mean scores of sleep quality (p = .۰۰۱) in the intervention group had a statistical significant decrease. Moreover, quality, latency, duration, efficiency, disturbances of sleep, and daytime dysfunction showed significant improvement in the intervention group, every two times after the intervention (P< .۰۵). However, the participants’ sleep quality deteriorated progressively in the control group (p=.۰۰۱). Conclusions: Remote Education Based on Orem's self-care model can be an effective method to improve the sleep quality of patients undergoing chemotherapy.
