In order to investigate the effect of clearance on the wasted energy of bearing number ۲of GE frame ۹ turbine, a model of this bearing was made in a commercial finite elementsoftware. The analysis was performed parametrically within the permissible range ofclearance. The power loss due to the movement of the oil and its acceleration in passingthrough the bearing, as well as the energy loss due to the viscosity of the oil, wereinvestigated. It is found that by reducing the oil leakage, the power loss due to themovement of the oil is reduced. The reason for this issue is probably due to the reductionof the current passing through the bearing. On the other hand, the power loss due toviscosity increases and the heat generated inside the bearing increases. For this reason, itis recommended to select proper clearance in the bearings to reduce the bearing damageand power loss.
